maybe now the tumblr and blog speak to each other?

please?

Trying to learn something new...

I posted this to tumblr hoping it would post here.  Hopefully posting here sends it to tumblr...

"So I know I’m pretty lousy at maintaining a blog and updating my twitter and posting to Instagram.  I’m kinda hoping that I can sort this social media thing out so that I can upload my photos to instagram and post to tumblr and it takes care of my blog and all other media that are not Facebook… More Importantly, I hope to be able to do this once with either my phone or in 15 mins on my computer (who am I kidding?  It takes me all day to post a blog but hey, I only want to post it once.  Anyway, my point is I want to reach more people without having to spend ALL DAY going between all the social media sites.  So… if this works out, you can find me on blogger, twitter, facebook, instagram, and tumblr as COMIXARTYST."

Great to Have My Right Arm Back

No, I didn't break my arm but my computer was down for the count which felt just as incapacitating.  In the meantime while waiting for my computer to be repaired, I managed to secure a contract with a very promising up and coming apparel company called Smash Wear.  Not only have I designed their business logo but I will be handling their printing for things such as business cards, designing the screen prints for their clothes, and building and maintaining their website. Exciting times!

Now that I have my computer back, I've got to get caught up on my backlog of assignments.  First of all, I have to make vector files of my two latest logo designs: Smash Wear and The Sprinkled Frog.  Then I'll update/build FLIPrelapse.com, ElectricChinchilla.com, BestPetiteSweets.com, McLainMcGuire.com, and SmashWearApparel.com.  Quite the list huh?  This is just my to-do list for my business Electric Chinchilla Entertainment.

For CCP Comics, I have to get back on track on the OCD Project for which I'm coloring the fantastic artwork of Tim Chupka.  This is the second time the Chupka/ McGuire/ Moore trio has come together on a project.  The first was for the CCP Comics success Dead Robot.  However, still in the works is FLIP Relapse.  Currently, the super-talented Jazel Riley is creating some kick-ass covers for the title.  Robert Saiz, the inker responsible for making my art look 10x more awesome, is currently working on Rocket Truck while he waits for some new FLIP pages.

So yeah, I stay pretty busy but most of these projects will be wrapped up in a few days.  Then it's full tilt on FLIP Relapse and some paintings.  Y'know, there's nothing I like more than talking about FLIP and FLIP Relapse.  Next year is FLIP's 15th anniversary.  The group of us have been friends for that long and I even met my husband Brian in FLIP.  Anyway, FLIP formed out of a small joke.  On the DC Comics message boards one of our founders "Silentbol" asked the question "Who is the ABSOLUTELY best person to add to Young Justice".  Our other founder replied "Freakazoid!" (Stephen Speilberg's creation).  Long story short, about 30 of us joined in before the moderator kicked us off the boards so we formed our own boards with our own rules.  Well, years passed, good times were had and then we grew up and most of us grew apart.  Those I stayed in contact with joined in on my decision to commemorate those good times with a comic series titled FLIP Relapse.  The premise?  "A group of unlikely heroes (based on the personalities of my fellow FLIP members) must come back from their last defeat before the President of the United States finds them and finishes them once and for all."  Sounds awesome right!?  You should totally download the FREE half issue from Comicspl.us right now.

Well, I've got work to do.  I'll have to talk your ear off later.  If you happen to be in the Chicago area at the end of this month, check out CCP Comics and yours truly at the C2E2 convention.  It'll be a blast!

A Fresh Start

Along with all the web design I've done in the past couple of days, I figured it was time to give the blogging thing another try.

For anyone who doesn't know me, I'm Rita Moore, the Lead Artist for CCP Comics and a freelance designer for my company Electric Chinchilla Entertainment.  I hold a BA in Media Arts and Animation from the Art Institute of Colorado, but I specialize in web design, graphic design, and illustration with expertise in Photoshop and high proficiency in Illustrator, Dreamweaver, and Flash.  I've been in business since 2007 and have developed a reputation as a very business oriented, hardworking individual that knows how to give and take direction.

As I've mentioned before, I work for CCP Comics with our Editor-in-Chief McLain McgGuire, Editors C.S. Humble and Rob Bass, and approximately 30 other artists, writers, and creators.  For CCP Comics, I've drafted and negotiated contracts, built and managed the web site, served as an artist, reviewed portfolios, trained and advised other artists, and participated in many promotions and charities.  We've been on a white-knuckled growth since we began just a few short years ago.  We started as a small group of creators and built a business that is recognized as the "farm team" of the comic industry with the gazes of DC, Marvel, and Image cast upon us.  With our recent inclusion to Comics Plus, Comixology, B&N Nook, Diamond Distributors, and the ComicCon Circuit, our future looks blindingly bright.

For the comic conventions I attend with CCP Comics, I developed a site specifically for the art I do for those conventions at comixartyst.com.  I prefer to keep that art separate from the work I do with Electric Chinchilla Entertainment as a means of keeping professional business from my convention business.  For conventions, I've enjoyed much success with my watercolor work but my real passion lies with promoting CCP Comics and my pet project FLIP Relapse, a comic about a group of unlikely heroes based on the quirks and personalities of my long time friends.

My business, Electric Chinchilla Entertainment, is where I display all of the recent design work and illustration I've done in my professional career.  I highlight web design, print design, and illustration.  I currently manage CCPcomics.com, FLIPrelapse.com, comixartyst.com, BestPetiteSweets.com, as well as my own site at ElectricChinchilla.com.  I've designed logos for Smash Wear and The Sprinkled Frog, educational materials for the National Center for Farmworker Health, illustrations for Amalfi Designs, and countless other print designs for various other clients.

Enough of that.  I'm a huge fan of humor and I surround myself with people who make me laugh and things I find fun.  One of those people is my husband, Brian, who is a very silly guy and always makes me feel better.  I love that guy.  I've gotten to travel to quite a few places in the US but haven't ventured outside the borders yet.  Most of these posts are going to be pretty humorous (at least in my opinion) simply because it's easier to type that way.  I mean jeez... I've drafted dozens of contracts....nobody wants to read like that.  This post itself is like a mullet.  Business upfront but party in the back.....hopefully more appealing though.

So I hope anyone out there reading this enjoys!
